Why is Media Mentors Australia introducing a Membership model? Great question! As the MMA community continues to grow, we want to offer you an opportunity to more fully engage with the screen industry and with fellow practitioners by offering a targeted suite of workshops, masterclasses, mentoring and networking opportunities that are available at significantly reduced cost to Members. This Membership scheme will give us the ability to build a closer relationship with our valued community members, as well as offering you significant savings on skills training and activities. We are a small privately owned company that does not currently receive funding from any external sources such as state or federal screen agencies.

Why would I sign up to be an MMA Member? Being an MMA Member will save you money AND give you access to a thriving and engaged community of screen industry peers and practitioners! As part of MMA’s new suite of offerings for producers, directors, writers and on screen talent, we’ll be offering regular workshops, masterclasses, mentoring sessions and events with ticket prices ranging from $19 - $49. If you’re a regular participant in our sessions, you’ll make significant $ savings by becoming a Member. Plus there’ll be Special Events only open to Members AND you’ll have exclusive access to our thriving Members community via a special WhatsApp Community group and Members networking events (online and in person).

Are there any eligibility requirements for MMA Membership? No, everyone’s welcome! Membership is open to all regardless of screen industry experience, background or geographical location. Everyone from entry-level through to experienced screen practitioners can join and become part of our supportive and highly engaged Member community.

Do I have to become an MMA Member in order to book a place on a masterclass, workshop, mentoring session or event? Absolutely not! You will always be able to purchase tickets for individual MMA sessions, however you may find it’s more cost effective (and better for your career!) to become a Member, rather than pay as you go. Access to Screen Industry Networking and What Is Mentoring? sessions will remain FREE.

Where can I find the Zoom link for the sessions? After you register: A confirmation screen will pop up. Add the event to your calendar right away to save yourself the hassle of finding the link later. Confirmation email: When it hits your inbox, save it as a calendar invite. This way, the Zoom link will be ready and waiting for you Can’t find it? Check your Spam/Junk folder. If it's not there, search for an email from notifications@wixevents.com (not MMA) – that’s where the Zoom link might be hiding. Still having trouble? Just drop us a line at takeoff@mediamentors.com.au. Please keep in mind, it’s not a 24/7 helpline, so we may not be able to jump on last-minute requests.

Do you record the sessions for me to watch later? We don’t. We thought long and hard about this and made this choice for a number of reasons. Guests can operate under Chatham House rules - i.e. what’s said in the room stays in the room and there’s no reporting. This means guests can share exciting insights and current knowledge, knowing that it will be accurate at the moment you hear from them - rather than if you watched the session a month later. Interaction with the guests, and each other, is one of the most valuable parts of the sessions. You can ask the speakers questions, they can see your name and you can start to forge a professional connection with them. But only if it’s live!

Is there a minimum period of membership? Can I cancel my MMA Membership at any time? There’s no minimum sign-up period - you can sign up to pay monthly and can cancel at any time through your account in the Members Hub - though we hope, of course, that you'll stay with us for the long term!

How quickly can I start using my MMA Membership? As soon as your Membership is confirmed online, you’ll immediately have access to all the Membership benefits, explore additonal content to hep your expanding career!

Who is eligible for Supported (Reduced Rate) Membership? What evidence will I need to supply? Students, Concession Card holders, NDIS participants, Seniors (65+), Veterans’ Affairs Card holders and First Nations. We’ll take you on good faith that you’re eligible but we’d ask you to respect that MMA is a small independently funded business. If you’re struggling financially or feel your circumstances should be considered for the Supported rate, please drop us a line at takeoff@mediamentors.com.au and we’ll see what we can do.

Who do I speak to if I’m having trouble accessing or navigating the Membership site? Please get in touch with ouR Admin Assistant, at takeoff@mediamentors.com.au. Please bear in mind that our Assistant works Monday-Friday so this email is not checked at weekends.
