About the event
Our distribution guru, Fiona Gilroy will host this lunchtime panel featuring Bronwyn Kidd - Director of Flickerfest since 1998, and filmmaker, Nick Bolton to share insights on how to distribute short films. Bronwyn has curated hundreds of short film programmes around the world and is on the Management Committee of the International Short Film Conference which advices on short film festivals and protocols around the world. In 2022, she founded the Flickerfest Short Film Bureau to distribute Australian films internationally and the bureau now represents over 200 of Australia’s best shorts which have sold to all territories, broadcasters and platforms internationally who buy shorts. Nick is a regional filmmaker based on the South Coast of NSW and runs two production companies. TEN ALPHAS specializes in commercial content and TEN ALPHAS FILMS is for creative and original content. His current film, a 29minute short called Finding Addison has been nominated for Best Short Film at the 2024 AACTA’s. Last year, his film Mate, a 34minute live action short film, became the first Australian film to ever win the International Grand Prix Best Film at the prestigious Clermont Ferrand film festival in France, was longlisted for nomination at the 2023 Oscars, and was nominated as Best Short Film at the ADG, ASE and SPA Awards in Australia, Mate screened at over 35 festivals around the world, winning many awards, and after screening at Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne International Film Festivals in 2022 it was available to stream online in Australia on SBS on-demand. This will be a fantastic opportunity for short film makers so don’t miss out and be sure to mark your calendar! Tuesday, 28 November, 12:30pm AEDT. Zoom online.
